Badgerswood and Forest Surgery are committed to providing the highest standard of care for our patients. To support the quality and efficiency of consultations, clinicians (including GPs and members of the multidisciplinary team within the practice) may use Ambient Scribe during your appointment.
This information explains what Ambient Scribes are and how your consent is managed.
What is an Ambient Scribe?
Ambient Scribes, such as ANIMA scribe, are secure digital assistants that use artificial intelligence (AI) to support clinicians during consultations. They help create medical notes from the discussion during your appointment, allowing clinicians to focus more fully on listening to your concerns and providing personalised care, rather than spending time typing notes.
All notes generated by Ambient Scribes are reviewed and approved by the clinician before being added to your medical record.

Patient Consent
Your privacy and comfort are our top priorities. Ambient scribes only process information discussed during your appointment and operates within strict privacy and data protection regulations. Before using Ambient Scribes, your clinician will explain its role and seek your verbal consent. You have the right to decline its use at any time.
- Data Security: All Ambient Scribes used by the practice comply with UK data protection laws, including GDPR, ensuring that your information is handled securely and confidentially.
- Data Protection Officer: The Data Protection Impact Assessment for all scribes in us have been reviewed and approved by our Data Protection Officer.
- Your Control: If you prefer not to have an Ambient AI Scribe involved, please do let your clinician know. This will not affect the quality of care you receive.
